Unique Properties

Chemicals and man-made substances are a part of our modern lives. Although the body is built with natural mechanisms to filter and cleanse harmful substances, the high incidence of toxic chemicals in our everyday work and home environment, food, air, water and soil over time can overwhelm our organs of detoxification and excretion. An accumulation of toxic compounds in body tissue can impair the body's important ability to regulate and defend, making us vulnerable to a variety of metabolic dysfunctions, particularly in the immune, neurological and endocrine systems.

Patient One's Detox and Cleansing Kit combines three Patient One formulas that support the processing and elimination of waste and toxins: L-Detox, C-Cleanse and Flora Maintenance. When taken together as detailed in our patient guide (and also outlined in the Directions tab above), they support distinct facets of whole-body detoxification.

Details on each formula in the Kit are below.

L-Detox (42 capsules)

Healthy liver function is essential for proper detoxification. Patient One L-Detox is a synergistic blend of antioxidants, vitamins, herbs and amino acids that enhance the body’s ability to detoxify the liver. This unique combination aids in fat metabolism within the liver, promotes glutathione synthesis, supports the safe elimination of toxins and supplies a broad range of antioxidants to help reduce free radical damage.

Key Ingredients in L-Detox

Vitamins A, C and E:

Vitamins A, C and E work in conjunction with each other to provide cofactors for toxin breakdown and removal from the liver via urine. Once contaminants are in a form that can be safely excreted, the bowel and kidneys take over in the final task of toxin elimination. Vitamin C neutralizes intermediate toxins and has a synergistic relationship with Vitamin A and E. All are essential for increasing glutathione levels. Vitamin C aids the detox process by limiting damage to the body from free radicals. Vitamin C strengthens the immune system and is especially effective in helping the body rid itself of heavy metal toxins like mercury, lead, cadmium and nickel. Vitamin E supports stability and integrity of cellular tissue and membrane throughout the body by inhibiting free radical damage.

Selenium is a trace mineral with an important role in detoxification. It is a cofactor for the production of glutathione peroxidase, a form of glutathione that enhances antioxidant protection against free radical damage. Selenium assists in the detox of heavy metals by enhancing the activity of lymphocytes and macrophages.

Proprietary Blend:

L-Detox 13’s proprietary blend combines natural botanicals and amino acids with powerful antioxidants to simulate the various phases of liver detoxification. N-acetyl-l-cysteine is an antioxidant that boosts tissue glutathione levels and also plays a role in binding heavy metals. Tumeric and Siliphos® (standardized for 29.7-36.3% silibin) enhance phase II detoxification enzymes, support glutathione synthesis and promote gastric, colon and liver cell function. Sulforahane from broccoli is a potent natural inducer of phase II detoxification enzymes, which eliminate many types of free radicals and environmental pollutants and trigger ongoing antioxidant action. Red clover and red raspberry are included for additional antioxidant protection.

Artichoke extract aids the digestive process by promoting healthy bile flow and intestinal motility, reducing toxin exposure in the gut. It also supports hepatic cell function and blood flow in the liver. Trimethylglycine functions in the body as a methyl donor and is involved in liver function, including detoxification reactions. Burdock root, dandelion root and yellow dock root have been studied for their protective effects on the liver, specifically protecting the body against cellular damage and abnormal growths caused by toxic chemicals. Licorice root supports neutralization of strong chemical toxins. Horsetail works as a diuretic to help flush toxins out of the body, and alfalfa acts as a natural body cleanser by eliminating retained water and carbon dioxide from the body.

Optimal bowel function is a very important part of a detoxification program. C-Cleanse is a powerful colon cleansing formula comprised of both soluble and insoluble fiber that supports the elimination of toxins from the body, binding toxins released into the intestines from the liver and preventing their reabsorption.

Key Ingredients in C-Cleanse

GI-regularity and function are critical to physiological balance and overall well-being. The colon plays a major role in this process by expelling the remnants of toxic molecules. If these harmful remnants are not eliminated, they can recirculate throughout the body.

Patient One’s Cleanse Blend combines a number of natural ingredients known for their beneficial effect on colon health. Rice bran is an excellent source of insoluble fiber. Regular consumption of insoluble fiber is important for healthy digestive function as it promotes a natural laxative effect by adding bulk to the diet, helping to prevent constipation. Insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water and as such it passes through the GI tract relatively intact, moving along the passage of food and waste through the gut.

Psyllium husk is a source of both soluble and insoluble fiber that has long been used as a bulking and lubricating agent for the digestive system. Psyllium is a partially fermented dietary fiber from Plantago ovata that increases stool weight and promotes laxation by its presence in stool and by increasing the moisture content of stool. The unfermented gel isolated from psyllium acts as an emollient and lubricant that allows for gentle ease of passage and softness of stool.

An added benefit of psyllium husk is its ability to lower serum total and LDL cholesterol concentrations.3-12 Psyllium also promotes a feeling of fullness that aids in healthy weight management.

Inulin provides a good, soluable prebiotic fiber source for support of healthy gut flora. Inulin has been shown in numerous studies to promote the growth of beneficial microorganisms, allowing them to crowd out detrimental organisms such as E. coli, C. difficile and fungus like Candida.

Apple pectin and prune powder provide additional sources of soluable fiber. With apple pectin’s ability to form a gel, it can bind water and toxins together, bulking the stool and carrying toxins out of the body.

Flora Maintenance

Probiotics are another important aspect of the detoxification process. Probiotics may help reduce toxin production in the intestines and may also help in directly eliminating toxins. Gut microbiota, including lactobacilli, can bind and sequester heavy metals, which can then be eliminated through bowel movements.
Patient One Flora Maintenance is a multi-strain, identity-confirmed, shelf stable probiotic with a potency of 25 billion live bacteria per serving at encapsulation, for 15 billion CFU at expiration based on proper storage. Ten compatible, well-researched bacteria (seven found in the small intestine and three found in the large intestine) are combined with a fructo-oligosaccharide (FOS, a prebiotic). The combination of a prebiotic and a probiotic has been clinically proven to promote enhanced effectiveness.
Flora Maintenance supplies HardiStrainTM standardized bacteria cultures, produced with a proprietary system that promotes increased viability over an extended shelf life. Our freeze-dried probiotic cultures are provided in an acid-resistant, delayed release capsule to survive harsh stomach acids for effective delivery to the intestinal tract where the organisms can colonize and replicate.
Flora Maintenance helps to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria, supporting an enhanced ability to resist infections while aiding digestion. The bacteria have the ability to adhere to the intestinal epithelial cells and to implant in the intestines and positively modulate the immune system. Patient One’s proprietary blend contains significant concentrations of L. acidophilus, L. casei, and L. rhamnosus, three of the most well documented strains on the market today.
As strain identity is essential to link a strain to a specific health effect, the probiotic strains in our formula are genetically identified using a sophisticated RiboPrinter® microbial characterization system.

Key Ingredients in Flora Maintenance

Bacterial Culture Blend: 25 Billion Organisms
Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium breve, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus salivarius, Streptocuccus thermophilus, Peddiococcus acidilactici, Lactobacillus bulgaricus
Fructo-oligosaccarides (FOS)
Flora Maintenance supplies FOS, a prebiotic from Jerusalem artichoke, to act as the nutrient source for the probiotics. FOS feeds the microflora in the intestines and prevents the overgrowth of yeast. FOS promotes calcium absorption due to an increase of lactic acid in the gut.

It is recommended that you begin using only C-Cleanse (1 scoop mixed with water or preferred beverage) for the first 2 days to ensure bowel regularity. Beginning on Day 3, upon waking, on an empty stomach: Take 2 capsules of L-Detox 13 with 1-2 glasses of filtered or spring water. Mid-day: Take 1 capsule Flora Maintenance, with or without a meal. Dinnertime: Shake or mix 1 scoop of C-Cleanse with 8 ounces of water or other beverage and drink within five minutes of mixing. We suggest using a shaker for best results. Drink a minimum of 8-12 ounces of filtered or spring water 8 times throughout each day. Maintenance after your cleanse: Continue to take 1 capsule Flora Maintenance daily, with or without a meal. While the herbs, amino acids, antioxidants and nutrients in these products will help your body do its job in detoxifying and eliminating, making wise diet and lifestyle choices will only enhance the process. Please refer to the Patient Guide for dietary and other helpful tips while cleansing.

Individuals who are trying to conceive, are pregnant or lactating should not use L-Detox. If you are taking diuretics or any other medications, consult your doctor before use. Discontinue use and consult doctor if any adverse reactions occur while using any of these products.
