Niacin (Vitamin B3)
Patient One Flush-Free Niacin supplies 500 mg niacin per capsule from a potent serving of 625 mg inositol hexanicotinate, a compound of nicotinic acid (niacin) with inositol. This compound consists of six molecules of niacin and one molecule of inositol. Taken orally, the niacin releases slowly, thereby minimizing the likelihood of "niacin flush." Because niacin releases histamine and causes capillary dilation which may cause a flushing of the skin, Patient One Niacin 500 mg is designed to promote patient compliance by minimizing this flushing sensation.
Niacin is a water-soluble B vitamin that is involved in nearly all aspects of energy metabolism. Its coenzymes (NAD and NADP) assist in the metabolic processes surrounding the breakdown and utilization of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. It is most commonly used to support cardiovascular wellness but has also shown benefits for circulatory wellness, blood health and nervous system health.
Evidence suggests that inositol hexanicotinate may have a beneficial effect on endothelium-dependent vasodilation. Improvements in blood flow are therapeutically important in conditions resulting from peripheral vascular insufficiency, such as Raynaud's and leg cramping.
