Patient One Digest-Plex helps to promote a favorable environment for digestive function and efficiency with hydrochloric acid combined with enzymatic support nutrients. Digest-Plex is formulated around a core of betaine hydrochloride, a gastric-juice component essential to the digestion of food and absorption of most nutrients. This complex helps to promote healthy stomach acid levels. Papaya-derived papain is included to supply enzymatic support for the metabolism of proteins, while bromelain and pepsin promote digestion of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Digest-Plex helps optimize gastric function and the metabolism of foods, supporting nutrient absorption and promoting digestive ease and comfort.

Key Ingredients

Betaine HCL is comprised of beet-derived betaine bound to hydrochloric acid. When taken just before consuming meals, betaine HCL is short-acting, increasing the acidity of the stomach and temporarily lowering gastric pH to create a beneficial environment for digestion. The low pH of the stomach's hydrochloric acid destroys ingested bacteria and microorganisms, helping to protect against bacterial overgrowth. HCL also aids in the absorption and assimilation of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin B12, calcium and iron from food sources.

Pepsin is the chief digestive enzyme that is naturally produced by the body. This gastric-juice component is essential to the digestion of food and absorption of most nutrients. During the digestion process, pepsin works to sever links between specific types of amino acids to break down proteins into peptides and amino acids that can then be absorbed by the intestinal lining.

Papain, found in green papaya, and bromelain, found in pineapple, are additional enzymes included in this formula that provide support for the digestion of proteins, including tough meats. They assist the body’s digestive function by supporting the breakdown of larger proteins into smaller proteins or peptides. Studies have shown that the stomach secretes lower amounts of hydrochloric acid with advancing age.

Suggested Use

Take 1 capsule at the beginning of each meal as a dietary supplement or as directed by your health practitioner. May take up to 6 capsules daily as needed. Store in a cool, dry place.
