Patient One Marine Collagen provides hydrolyzed marine collagen for easy absorption, along with synergistic co-factors that support collagen synthesis in the body. Along with collagen peptides Types I, II & III, our formula includes a blend of vitamin C, zinc, copper and hyaluronic acid. These nutrients help the body in producing, supporting and maintaining new collagen.  Made from sustainably sourced, wild-caught white fish, our unflavored, sugar-free powder is tasteless and odorless and readily dissolves in hot or cold liquids or soft foods.

Patient One Marine Collagen contains a high content of the amino acids glycine and proline, as well as supplies hydroxyproline, a major component of collagen. Hydroxyproline and proline are important in collagen stability.

As a major component of skin, collagen plays a role in its elasticity and hydration. Collagen helps make sure that cartilage is strong enough to absorb shock and support joints, while also enabling bones to move fluidly without friction. Collagen is also a vital component of the gut’s connective tissue and may help support the protective lining of the stomach and intestinal walls.

The body naturally produces collagen, though production slows down as we age, beginning in our mid-20s. Collagen can be damaged over time by hormones, stress, poor nutrition, pollution and sun exposure.

Collagen Building Complex

The body makes collagen by combining amino acids. Because the process also requires certain nutrients, our formula includes important co-factors. Vitamin C plays an essential role in collagen synthesis and maintenance. It keeps the enzymes required for collagen production in their active states and supports collagen fibers in binding to each other. Zinc contributes to the production of collagen in the body and promotes cell repair. Copper is essential for the cross-linking of adjacent collagen fibers, aiding in collagen and elastin fiber maintenance. Copper may also provide antioxidant properties, which may help protect against skin aging.

Our formula includes hyaluronic acid (HA) as a supplementary ingredient that contributes to collagen synthesis. By counteracting the effects of IL-1 fibroblasts which inhibit collagen production, HA allows for collagen to be synthesized. Nearly 50% of all HA in the body is found in the skin, and it is a key molecule involved in skin moisture and collagen and elastin stimulation. HA is also a major component of synovial fluid that provides cushioning for joints and enables smooth movement.
